Important Dates

It is important to prepare for a race of this length and difficulty both mentally and physically. Here are some ideas to help you have a more enjoyable experience in the To Bone and Back Race.

Drink plenty of fluids before the race and don't forget to go to the bathroom prior to the start. By drinking a lot of fluids, you will stay hydrated throuout the race.

Don't overdress - while it's important to stay warm and dry before the race starts, once you get moving you won't want to be wearing too much clothing.

Keep your head up - as you get tired, you may find that you spend most of your time looking at your feet rather than up at the road ahead. This not only throws your spine out of alignment - putting you at risk of back pain and neck or shoulder tension - but it can also make your spirits wane. Keeping your head up gives you a much more confident stand and sends a positive message to your subconcious mind. However, don't forget to watch your step! Discarded plastic bottles, clothing, and other obstacles can not only snag an experienced runner, but cause other runners to move erratically.

Don't forget to have fun! Even if you are determined to beat that special time, don't forget that you are out there to have fun. Enjoy the journey as well as the destination!
